"Monet & Me" Acrylic Canvas 14" x 20"

I did a second "Monet-Monet" for MFA homework.  Because of this assignment I have an even greater respect for Claude and his Impressionist buddies!
It was fun to combine the two works into one.  I did make a few changes.  I hope C.M. doesn't mind.

  1. Fortunately for you, Claude does not have email or Facebook!

Looks as if you are enjoying this challenge of painting in another style. You are handling it well. I'm not seeing any stress in your brush strokes:)

I love Monet! The lights and darks and varied colors in the Haystack series are amazing. I saw them in Boston some years back!
I am having a great time revisiting Monet and his friends!
Thank you for visiting so often and writing such fine supportive words!

  3. Hi Michael,
I like what you did combining Claude's 2 paintings; the colours are a nice balance...it's always so humbling to learn from copying the masters. Sounds like your class is quite enjoyable, and experimenting is the order of the day... have fun with it!

  4. Great exercise painting from the masters! An eye opener. Your class sounds terrific and Claude would be impressed. The liberties you took, made the painting uniquely your own and your touch was a good one. The colors are wonderful. Happy painting Michael. Enjoy.

    1. Hello My Artist Buddy Susan!
I am so very happy you like my little Monet challenge! I am glad you noticed the colors. I so very much enjoyed making them on my palette! Mostly right on the canvas! And occasionally mixed right on my apron. I think I will post a photo of my art apron. Looks like an old paint palette!
      Thanks again Susan!

  8. I had the opportunity to see all of Monet's haystacks together at the Monet exhibit at Chicago's Art Institute many years ago.
