"Drama Clouds Skies Waves Oceans"

Fellow artist and blogger David J. Teter, Avid Art, recently discussed sky drama and how he uses it in his wonderful work.
His blog entry prompted me to post some of my older works where I focused on drama and emotion in the sky and ocean.
I so love action and emotion and so much more in my work!
If you enjoy wonderful art full of drama and emotion check out David J. Teter's "Avid Art" Blog!

  3. Hey Michael! You have reposted some of your own best and most dramatic and emotional of your own. Two of my favorites, 2nd and 3rd down. Your turbulent sea's are uniquely your own, as they should be! I especially love the heavenly light in the 3rd down. It say's to me hope in the middle of that roiling sea.
Thank you for citing my post. Glad to see you do the same. It shows the work in another context, that to itself.
Thanks for rooting for the Kings run for the Cup. GO KINGS! A true fan you are!

  9. I love every one of these spectacular paintings Michael - they all encapsulate nature at its most epic. You really know how to put drama into your seas and skies. They look fantastic all together here and give an insight into what an amazing exhibition you could make of this theme. I have already been an admirer of David's work having found his blog via yours some time back - his latest post is fantastic!
Are you taking some photos of your flag bedecked house? Happy flag day for Saturday! Maybe all the stars and stripes will attract the hummingbirds!!

I will soon post some photos of our little home with my American flags. Not only do I love my country but I think our flag is so cool. I love the various flags of the worlds countries. As an artist I find them so very interesting. Especially when they are flying all together. Of course I so love the Australian flag. Wicked cool!!!
I am on the lookout for humming birds and other wild life to photo for you. Lately we have been having a beautiful red fox visit our yard. I think there is a den full of pups nearby! Hard to photo the fox though. Very fast!

  10. Michael, all very beautifully dramatic, reminiscent of Turner. Which reminds me, there is an exhibition of Turner's seascapes at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Ma. this summer which I hope to get to see.

    1. Susan! Thank you for even mentioning Turner in your comment! He and Van Gogh are two artists who have had a huge influence on me! I so love Turner's seascapes. Whenever I am at the MFA in Boston I have to check out "Slave Ship!" In the late sixties, when I was a college undergrad one of my art teachers compared my work to Turner. Sad to say I had never heard of Turner then. After my teacher's compliment I read all I could about Turner and to this day think of his great work on a daily basis! Imagine all these years later you mention my work with Turner's! Yippee is putting my happiness mildly! I am so very excited about going to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem with my family soon to soak up all I can from seeing Turner's work. I think there is a boat leaving from Boston to Salem. Again Susan, Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You made my day!
Take care and I hope you get to see Turner also!
      Your Turner Loving Art Buddy!

  12. Ciao Michael,
Che v italità trasmettono queste enormi onde...sembra di vederle che si scatenano e si schiantano ...quasi volessero parlare per far capire la loro potenza e che noi, come sempre, siamo solo moscerini di fronte agli elementi naturali...
