"That Is Me Making The Tackle! Is This Painting For Sale?"!" Acrylic Canvas 18" x 24"

I finished this painting that I had worked on and off for a few years and decided to post it on an East Boston face book page.
I changed the scene quite a bit from the newspaper reference piece. After twenty years since the game took place I was amazed
when one of the football players  making the tackle recognized himself in the painting! He wrote on face book, "That is me making the tackle!  Is this painting for sale?"

  5. Hi Michael!
Great painting - lots of action! That is such an amazing story - it must have been a real shock - but a nice one! Which one was your team, white or blue?

  6. Hello Mate!
    Hi Wendy!
Thank you for your wonderful comments! I am glad you noticed the action. You are right it was a shock but oh so very nice when I read his comment. Especially after alll those years!
I played for the blue and gold team. So hard to believe I played highs school American Football so many, many years ago! In those days people thought it an odd combination to be a football player and be interested in the arts! I loved both!

    1. G'day again!
It must have been a lot of fun for you in those days playing footy (we Australians love to shorten words!).
I guess having the combination of interests - football and the arts - just shows that you have a very rounded personality - the best type to have!!
      Happy painting!!

    2. G'day back at you Wendy!
Being "arty" and liking "footy" was great fun while going through high school and college. Thanks for the compliment!

  10. Great Story Michael and like you have said so many times all this is made possible by the web. Before that we would never have seen this story or even what are the chances that the football player would have come across it and wanted to buy it!
I'm glad to read you sold it to him. He connected to it and it belongs on his wall. The artist/former player and the former player forever linked. Totally cool!
Keep painting... keep posting 'em... and keep painting s'more,,,
