"Vincent and Michael"

Recently I had some minor ear surgery.  I am fine.  I thought it would be fun to post a photo of me and my buddy Vincent both sporting our bandages!
Vincent!

Me!
Now I am going to have to do a self portrait?
(Go Bruins!)

I posted this work some time ago.  Posted it today because it reminds me of my buddy Vincent's works!
It started off as a serene hot air balloon scene with the balloons floating over a very calm green pasture.  I guess that was too boring for me.

  1. Your love of Vincent and 'Starry Night' and your present likeness to the great man no doubt reminded you of this painting, which also reveals your love of the sea. Glad your surgery went well and a self portrait would be fun.

  2. Bonjour,

Belle oeuvre.

    Gros bisous à vous.

  5. love your balloon fantasy painting Michael, much more interesting that what it was 'meant' to be! The difference between you and Vincent, is your happiness eminates from your picture, while Vincent's anxiety eminates from his self portrait. go Bruins!

    1. Hi Sally!
I am so happy you like my balloons. It certainly is a fantasy painting! I agree and thank you for saying that it is more interesting than plan A. It is so much fun and so good to be happy. I am pleased I thought of doing this!
"Go Bruins!" that is so nice of you Sally! Coming from a wonderful Canadian that is great support! What hockey team do you usually follow?
I love when they sing the Canadian National Anthem and the US National Anthem at the games! Many of our younger hockey fans refer to those wonderful anthems as the "Hockey Songs!"

    1. Hi Stephanie!
I am so happy you got to laugh! Laughing certainly is so much fun! The ear is on the mend. I am glad you like my work. When I paint I don't mean for it to be "Van Goghish!" It just happens!
      Thank you Stephanie!

When I got the idea to do the post I started smiling and laughing and couldn't stop. Even now I am getting a kick out of it! So very good to laugh once in a while! I am glad you like my balloon painting. That is the type of work I enjoy the most. Just letting myself go! "Wild and colorful!" Thank you Wendy! Can't ask for much more than that! Thanks for visiting and being such a good art friend. Or as we say in the USA "art cobber!"
I hope you painted today! Or will paint today!

  10. LOL! Very funny, Michael! I bet Vincent had a sense of humor himself (though he is thought of as so serious and dark!--I can't believe he didn't have a very lighthearted side, just by looking at his wonderful sunny paintings!). Hoping your ear is recovered fast --Love the painting..it has motion (yes, like Vincent!)
