Back to Boston yesterday for my art class at MFA. First time many Bostonians back into the city!
Before class I stopped by one of the many make shift memorials. I placed a copy of my collage in with the many other tributes. Healing is happening.
Friday I will be going to Fenway Park! Watch the Red Sox and sing "Sweet Caroline" with more than thirty-five thousand Boston Strong fans.
Rock on Michael!
I am back painting and will post some art soon!
Thank you for your support.
Peace.
Michael
I'm glad the healing is underway. Lovely tributes!!! Yours fits in there so well. Enjoy the Sox and sing your heart out.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joan!
DeleteStill very sad but mending and moving forward.
Looking forward so much to be at Fenway Park! I will be thinking of you and all my other great art blog buddies!
Art on!
Michael
Did I hear that Neil Diamond showed up to sing? Why do they sing that particular song? (that's interesting!) These photos are very moving. Who would have ever guessed just a week and a half ago that all this would have happened?? I am glad you are there to give us a firsthand report. So sorry to you and all involved--this could happen anywhere. It is so heartbreaking, but as you say, the healing has begun. People are wonderful.(that included you).
ReplyDeleteHello Celeste!
DeleteYes! A wonderful surprise visit by Neil Diamond certainly made singing SC so good! So good!
You are right! In my wildest dreams I never ever could have imagined me posting about a tragic Patriots' Day the day after I posted a "Happy Patriots' Day!" Great support from all over the world very helpful! You are right people are wonderful! Including me, so thoughtful! Thank you Celeste!
Oh, "Sweet Caroline" became popular at Fenway in the late nineties? New owners in 2002? decided to continue playing it right after the eight inning. There is a pause in the song so the fans can sing on "So good! So good!" I am not sure why it caught on. Back in the day I only remember the organ playing "Take me out to the ball game!"
(I think Neil Diamond wrote it thinking of Caroline Kennedy back in 1968? Not sure.)
Thanks so much for so much.
Love your art!
Michael
Belt it out Michael! Yes, why Sweet Caroline?
ReplyDeleteThis tragedy didn't just happen to you Bostonians, it happened to every American across the country. It was a heinous, terrorist assault that will remain in memory. The memorials look oddly cheerful to me. I get them, but then I don't.
Glad to hear you're back painting.
Hello My Art Buddy Linda!
DeleteI will belt it out! So very psyched about being at Fenway Park!
I am not quite sure about the popularity of "Sweet Caroline" at Red Sox games. Celeste asked the same question! I even googled to get more info. No one knows for sure why it is so loved by the fans. I know everyone singing "So good! So good!" is such a wonderful feeling!
You are so right about this tragic event affecting all Americans. There are many times when I realized how we are all Americans. The ones that come to mind now are when we visited The Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, "9-11", and now "Boston Marathon!"
I understand how these memorials can be conflicting. I wasn't even sure why I went that day!
I do not it helped in the healing process.
I will be posting some work later today!
Thanks so much Linda!
Michael
There are no words, Michael. Adding your collage to the memorial was very tender and kind of you. I am glad you are back to your classes and back to painting. The human spirit stays strong.
ReplyDeleteHello My Art Buddy Susan!
DeleteYour words are healing my friend! As is your wonderful art! Your paintings make me happy!
The strength of the human spirit is amazing.
Thank you Susan!

Like the rest of the country, my thoughts have been with Boston these past days. Singing "Sweet Caroline" is sure to be an extremely moving experience. I'm so glad you gave your collage. It's a lovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteHello Shirley!
DeleteThank you! Thank you! Thank you again!
It is so very nice to hear from you. Your words are very supportive. I am looking forward to going to the game. Counting the minutes!
Love Boston sooooooooo much.
Art on my friend. Love your latest post!
Michael
Hi Michael, so nice to see your collage amongst the other tributes. It must have felt very strange and moving to go back in to Boston after all that tragedy. I hope you were able to enjoy your art class and I hope you enjoy the Red Sox game tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and your support. I tell all my family friends about my Australian Art Friend!
You are right. Strange it was. Odd. Almost surreal. But so very important!
I love Boston with all my heart! When I ran the Boston Marathon, way back in 1990, my wife, family and friends, waited for me at the exact spot of one of the blasts last week! Very, very personal for me! There is something special about Boston and its residents. Very, very proud of our city!
I will be thinking of you and my art buddies at the game tomorrow while singing "Sweet Caroline" and our countries' National Anthem!
Art on Wendy!
Your back to painting Yank and Cobber!
