"Ola Minha Boa Amiga!!" Oil Canvas 12" x 14"

"Little Portuguese Boat"

I did this little work some time ago!
Love the clouds, the waves, and the little Portuguese boat!
I have a huge connection with the Portuguese because of my years teaching many Portuguese immigrants in Fall River, MA, USA!
Once I was ever so fortunate to take a group of students on an overseas field trip to the Acores, Portugal!
Abracos!

  1. Ah Miguel! This is stunning! I love the drama of the tumultuous waves!
I also love the wild clouds and the little bobbing Portuguese boat. The colours are great too. The bold streak of aqua is very dramatic!
    Ocean strikes again!

    1. Thanks Wendy! The other day you mentioned using "blues" in your blog! I love the color blue!
I love the ocean so very much! Thank you so much for your very kind words! This painting was done without any reference. Very free flow.
Must do more oceans. Right now busy doing a portrait for my friend. I hate the "work" part of art work! I like "Ocean strikes again!" Thank you! May be a title for an "Ocean" show in the future! Thanks cobbler buddy!
      Take care mate!

Thank you for one of the best comments ever! I love passion in my art. I am always so very happy if anyone notices that! I love the rhythm and movement in the ocean and in my work. I am thrilled that you mentioned that also!I love all the different culture all over the world. There is so much to celebrate about each country and its people. The Portuguese certainly show their passion in Fado music!

    1. Hello My Art Buddy Susan!
So very, very good to hear from you!
Your wonderful comments made my day! We artists spend so much time privately making a bit of art here and there and is wonderful to hear from fellow artists out there doing the same! I think passion, emotion, and the
unseen spirit of the painting are so very important. I am so very happy that you noticed even the tiniest bit of passion coming through my art! Thanks again Susan!
I love your art and your blog!
      Take care.

  7. Your painting reminds me of the movie "Captain's Courageous"...did you ever see it? Once you accept Spencer Tracy as Portuguese (which he manages to make you do) it is a brilliant movie. Love these big waves-- that big roiling sea has to have respect! Well done.

    1. Hello Celeste!
Thank you so very much for visiting again and writing such wonderful words, again!
Yes, I have seen "Captain's Courageous!" Many times! Thank you so much for the comparison! I agree with you about the sea. I grew up with the best view of Boston Harbor.
As a young boy swam in Boston Harbor! "Love that dirty water! Boston My Hometown! Spent much of my time along the New England Coast. Love the North Atlantic so much! I love the sea. The wilder the better! Lived through many Nor'Easters. The sea certainly demands respect!
After all this writing I think I am going to start a huge ocean painting!
      Take care Celeste!

  8. Rock and Roll! That's what I get from this, great fluidity.
Yep, we have a Portuguese community here too, in fact San Pedro and the surrounding port was settled by the Portuguese as many of the names (streets and neighborhoods) attest to. San Pēdro, not Pëdro. I'm told the Portuguese pronounce with the long e sound.

    Keep painting...

  10. Hi Joan!
    Thanks for stopping by!
I am so happy you know Fall River! I taught at Emeril's middle school! He was a student long before I was a teacher!
Fall River is a great city! Next time on your way to the Cape stop by and visit "Battleship Cove" and take in a local Portuguese restaurant.
    Take care Joan!
