"Zings!" is the best! You are very kind!
Painting these was great fun! Buildings from my hometown, East Boston, MA.
      Take care!

  4. Very nice Michael, 3 different approaches on the same subject. Give us a little bit of the story on these please. One you call "...Last One Standing".

I like the trio, I'm the most partial to "Neptune Road Last One Standing", that shiny street really does it justice. Really great light on the top two.
Congrats on finishing your class at MFA.

    Keep painting...

    1. Good morning David!
As always, so very good to hear from you!
Thank you for your very kind words! I am so glad you like my work!
I am happy you are interested in the story behind "Neptune Road Last One Standing!"
Logan International Airport is located in East Boston as is Neptune Road. Over the years airport expansion and saving the neighborhoods has been an ongoing issue! This fantastic building is the last "triple decker" on Neptune Road not taken by eminent domain. Not sure why!
Because it is such a noble and courageous structure I thought I had to paint it! I did this work from and old photo! I haven't been back to that neighborhood for some time. Now I realize I need return home and see if this still is "The Last One Standing!" I hope so!
Thanks for the motivation David! I will keep you posted!

  5. Michael - These are great!! I love old buildings...they have much more character than the modern ones they build now. I'm sure each of these holds wonderful stories about their inhabitants. I'm glad you gave the background about the "Last One Standing". Unfortunately progress and expansion often take away what we artists love best. Glad you captured these so well!

I agree with you about old buildings! They have so much more from an artistic point of view! So much character, integrity, beauty! I could go on and on!
      Again, thanks for so much!
      Your old building loving buddy!

  6. Hi Michael,
I like the variety of styles you have used for your lovely paintings. How sad for you that the classes have finished - do they put more on later in the year?
    Has the snow stopped now?

  7. Hello My Dear Australian Art Buddy Wendy!
It is so very good to hear from you! (I love your latest blog post. I just left a comment!)
I am so happy you like my work. I am fortunate to have you and other artists from all over checking out my art and even liking it! (I guess all of us art bloggers are very fortunate!)
The good news is my class was offered again, as a part two! So I am thrilled. Thank you for thinking of me! I started again this week and just posted some photos today! My first day back in Boston was another eventful one! I am so thrilled and very fortunate!
And the snow has not stopped. We had to drive home from Boston in a snow storm! And we are expecting more snow tomorrow evening and then again another storm next week! Hello spring! Where are you! As much as I love the snow even I am ready for spring! How is your weather! I hope things have cooled down a bit. Some rain. And no more fire issues! I hope!
Take care my Australian art friend!

    1. Michael, I'm so pleased your art classes are continuing. I enjoy seeing what you do there, as well as the photos you post of Boston which is on my "places to visit one day" list.
You sure are copping a lot of snow! One can certainly have too much of a good thing so I hope that spring is just around the corner for you. I have only once experienced seeing the emergence of spring from winter in the Northern hemisphere which was wonderful to see. Other than the exotics we grow in our gardens, our vegetation is all evergreen, so there isn't quite the same drama in the changing of seasons here. Apparently there is only one native deciduous tree in Australia and I think it is found in the very north of the Northern Territory which is hot all year around.
Thankfully we've had some lovely cool nights lately with beautiful days in the high twenties (celsius). There is the smell of Autumn in the air.
      Your Australian art cobber!

  8. Hi Wendy!
I am loving so much about Australian because of you! Thank you so much for taking the time to write!
I hope you do get to Boston some day! I think it is such a grand town. Even if I am a bit biased!
"Copping" a lot of snow! "Copping" is a term that is new to me! But we certainly have been copping quite a bit of snow! More to come Monday! I may call my weather forecaster and introduce them to the term "copping!" How cool would that be!
It is so interesting to me how different our climate and geographies are! I am glad your fall is coming! Our seasonal changes are very dramatic. I am always torn about losing one season but am thrilled when the new one starts!
    Thanks Wendy!
Your USA Cobber and Four Season Lover!
    Michael
