"Clouds" Acrylic 20" x 24" Canvas

I love painting clouds.  Like my ocean paintings, the wilder the better.  Hope others enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it.

  1. Gorgeous!!! I love the shading in the clouds. This would make me stop and sketch!

  3. Hello! It's very enjoyable, the glow in the water is something else. . . I want to see this in person, of course.

    1. Hello to you Lisa! So very good to hear from you. You might be able to see this and other cloud and ocean paintings soon. I am toying with the idea of a one person show in Lakeville Mass. (Per your suggestion some time ago!)
      Take care my artist buddy.

  4. Rose,
So very good to hear from you.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments.
Any tips? Mmmm? I have so many. So little space.
For me to get into my little painting zone I forget most of the "rules" I have been "taught" over the years. It sounds odd but when I paint I often follow a Pablo Picasso quote, "Have an idea of what you want to do but keep it a vague idea!" I try to keep the process fun. I love to be spontaneous and carefree when I paint. I hardly ever do a sketch first. I always paint over my work. Most of the time the painting "dictates" the way it wants to go. Odd huh? My only hope is that the finished product is not too abstract for me or the viewer to understand. My creative process usually is more important than the completed work of art. I hardly ever know when a work is finished. I simply stop when I feel like it. I have works that I started years ago all over my studio. Some I think are complete and others I don' have a clue. (So much more to say. I should stop here. I hope I have been of some help.)
    Take care.

  5. Well hello Michael, I'm pleased to join your group of followers; I love your clouds, your oceans, and your sense of humor with those tulips and the fire hydrant. I especially like your clouds and oceans. You've taken bodies of space we take for granted and made us feel the emotion in cloud forms and the pitch of waves--very unique. I also like your sizes. It seems that most everyone around here paints tiny--formats under 12 inches. I'm a bold stroke painter that appreciates a surface I can see from across a good size room. Now do come back and add your picture to my permanent list of followers, so that way I can add your blog URL to my side bar and others can see your work everytime they drop over.

    1. Well hello L.W.
I am pleased that you have joined my little wonderful group. It is thrilling to me that people visit my blog and write nice things. Thank you so much for your very kind and positive words.
I do very much enjoy painting on large surfaces. What you write about seeing a painting from across a good size room is what constantly is on my mind while I paint. At times I am even bold enough to picture my large paintings in a huge museum gallery where people are happy to spot it immediately from a distance. It is reassuring to have find others who have similar thoughts. Thanks for so much.
      Michael
